Manufacturing supply chains significantly contribute to greenhouse gas emissions and resource depletion, driving the need for circular business models. This presentation introduces a prototype measurement system for sustainability, circularity, and net-zero emissions in the Swiss MEM industry, based on ISO 59000.
Drawing from 15 interviews with industry representatives, the study highlights challenges like unclear circular economy definitions and inconsistent reporting practices.
This work proposes a matrix integrating environmental, social, economic, and circularity impacts, recommending frameworks like GRI and ESRS. Collaboration and harmonized standards are emphasized as key to advancing a sustainable circular economy.
